If you've never heard of the Gobi March, well, it's a pretty intense race! The participants will have to run/hike across the Gobi Desert for a total of 250 km, 6 days. Each day they'll have to conquer 40K, and on the second to last day, they'll have to run 80K. That's basically 1-2 marathons a day! Not only that, but they'll have to carry their own food, clothes and other supplies in a backpack that's equivalent to 20 extra pounds. 20 extra pounds!
What's also amazing in my mind is how technologically advanced this race is. The entire journey will be tracked via satellite, so each day the competitors can blog about the race (here's Mike's blog), and photographs/videos taken of the race will also be uploaded on a daily basis. I guess the race organizers realized this would be a good way to ease any anxiety the competitors' friends and family may have. I just checked the web site, and looks like Mike is off to a good start!

Anyway, just want to wish all of the Gobi participants good luck and safe travels! It's going to be an incredible journey! 加油!
