Aloha!

Shortly after Chinese New Year, Mike and I hopped on a plane and flew to Hawaii.  One of his friends, Kai was getting married so we used it as an excuse for a 5-day getaway.  After not seeing his close friends for over a year, Mike was excited to reunite with them.  As for me, I didn't mind tagging along for more fun in the sun!

After a 16-hour long journey from Beijing-Tokyo/Narita-Honolulu-Maui, we finally arrived at the Westin Maui on Friday.  Our plans were slightly thwarted with the tsunami warnings on Saturday, but luckily, the waves were small ones, and the day ended as a golf tournament for the boys and a spa getaway for the girls.  On Sunday, we had a triple date with two other couples - Kelvin/Julie and Bubbles/Julia, and we drove up to Hana.  Monday was whale watching day and finally on Tuesday, it was wedding day!

Soaking in some sun on Friday

Dinner on the first night with Mandy and Julia

Where do you go when there's a tsunami? You move to higher ground at the Ritz!

And you watch the waves from up above

Luckily, the waves never really came

So we took a jumping pic

Later on we watched the sunset

Dinner at Aloha Mixed Plate, a local favorite

Yummy fried chicken wings, coconut prawns and fries!

Kahlua pig with salsa and rice

Kalbi short ribs mixed plate...YYUUMM

I think Tam enjoyed his dinner

We took a roadtrip to Hana the next day

It was cold and rainy but we still had time to pose for pictures (with Julie and Julia)

 The scenery was really pretty

We woke up early on Tuesday morning for a run

It was tiring but the view was worth it!

Finally it was the wedding.  Here's the ladies pic, donning our dresses

Kai and Allison, a very lovely couple

Kai's parents - a very cute and funny couple.  I want to be like them when I grow old

 I like this pic :)

The wedding was really pretty - elegant, intimate and understated - actually this was one of my favorite weddings

UPDATE: Here's a guest blog from Mike!
everyone should watch "how i met your mother"...because it is awe....wait for it....some.  so was hawaii, it was awesome.  it was nice eating great food, seeing close friends, golfing with amazing views, and tanning oceanside.  everyday was gtl...golf, tan, laughing.  whale watching was pretty amazing, saw bubbles jump out of the ocean, i mean a whale jump out of the ocean.  i dont even think bubbles reads this so its only for my humor.  ok, peace out!  blog smog!
